June 16, 2006 Update
The Muskingum Conservancy Court has announced that the proposed property assessment will be delayed for one year, to allow for the over 5000 objections to be fairly heard. It is physically impossible to schedule and hold hearings on all the objections before the September 1, 2006 deadline. The process had to be completed by September 1, to certify to the county auditors and commence assessing on January 1, 2007. Under the law this process has to be done in time to start the collection for the entire property tax year. Therefore, the proposed assessment cannot start until January 1, 2008.
