Multi-State Streamlined Sales Tax Governing Board Does Not Accept Ohio’s Proposal COLUMBUS – State Representative Bob Gibbs (R-Lakeville) of the 97th House District announced that the Multi-State Streamlined Sales Tax Governing Board did not accept the Ohio delegation’s proposal via the taskforce. The delegation, composed of Representative Gibbs, Senator Ron Amstutz and Tax Commissioner Rich Levin has attended multiple out-of-state meetings to encourage the Governing Board to accept Ohio’s recommendation. The Governing Board referred the amendment back to the taskforce for further work and therefore there will be no sourcing changes required of Ohio businesses on January 1, 2008. House Bill 119, the budget bill, requires Ohio to no longer be an active participant of the Streamlined Sales Tax Project if the proposal was not accepted as of October 1, 2007. |
