Thank you for visiting my web site and for your interest in both the
General Assembly and in my campaign. I
appreciate all the support that I receive from the citizens of the 97th district, and consider myself privileged to have
the opportunity to serve you in the Ohio House of Representatives.
This web site is a
vehicle, which allows me to communicate with you on current issues,
legislation, functions, and other pertinent news. The website is another way
for you to communicate with me regarding matters of importance to you. As a father and self-employed farmer for thirty years, I understand the challenges families and businesses face daily to succeed. Jody and I have been married for thirty-two years and are parents of three grown children; we know the challenges and rewards of raising a family and appreciate the importance of receiving a good education. I will continue to fight for the interests of our local area and protect the sanctity of human life, property rights and support policies to enhance Ohio’s business climate, to strengthen our economy and create new opportunities for hard-working Ohioans. I have a strong record for protecting families, businesses and individual property rights. In addition, I have a 100 percent pro-business voting record from the Ohio Chamber of Commerce and NFIB. As the Vice-chair of the Ways & Means Committee, I help draft the largest tax cut in Ohio’s history and reform our tax code so Ohio’s businesses can better compete in today’s global marketplace. Currently, as Chair of Ways and Means, I am a strong proponent of a broad based, low rate tax policy the is equitable to all taxpayers and with the least amount of burden for taxpayers. Tax reform of 2005 was a good start to move Ohio forward, however we need to continue our commitment for lower taxes and a stronger Ohio economy.
A modest goal is to move Ohio above the national average in per capita income and job growth. A recent study illustrates if Ohio were at the national average in 2006 in these two categories an additional $1.6 billion annually would have been collected in revenues without a tax increase.
We can accomplish strong economic growth with policies of lower taxes, regulatory reforms, investments in education and infrastructure, fiscal restraint and limited government.
I am committed to these principles that will allow for the private sector to flourish and provide opportunities for all Ohioans.
Please do not hesitate to share your thoughts and concerns with me. Bob
